The Spartans completed a weekend road trip with a pair of wins at Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon in Buena Vista, Virginia. The Spartans have now won four in a row and eight of their last nine as the Spartans are now 8-2 in dual meets this season.
The York College wrestling squad opened the 2018 portion of their schedule in impressive fashion as they went 3-0 during day one of the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA.
Junior All-American Greg Warner led the York College Spartan wrestling squad to a fifth place finish at the Ninth Annual New Standard Corporation Invitational in York on Saturday. The Spartans totaled 71.5 points as Warner was York’s lone champion as he captured the 149-pound title.
The nationally ranked York College wrestling squad will host one of the east coast's premier Division III wrestling events on Saturday as the Ninth Annual New Standard Corporation Invitational will take over the M&T Bank Field House on Saturday, December 2.
YORK, PA – The York College wrestling team took seven consecutive matches to climb out of a 10-point deficit and take down The College of New Jersey 23-10 on Saturday at M&T Bank Fieldhouse. Greg Warner, at 149 pounds, scored a technical fall victory to kick start the turnaround for the Spartans. At 14-10, Frankie Krauss came from behind to defeat No. 2-ranked Daniel Kilroy at 184 pounds, 11-6, solidifying the Spartan advantage.
YORK, PA – The York College wrestling squad fell in dramatic fashion, 22-19 to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday at M&T Bank Fieldhouse. The Spartans trailed 15-0 after the first four matches, but a pin by freshman Eric Hutchinson ignited a comeback that propelled York to a 19-15 lead with two matches remaining. The Blue Jays took both of them, however, completing a comeback of their own to seal the victory.
The York College wrestling team had another stellar Saturday as the Spartans dominated at the Ursinus College Fall Brawl in Collegeville, PA. The Spartans had three wrestlers earn individual tournament championships. Sophomore heavyweight Stefanos Karpontinis won his second straight tournmanet title while Greg Warner and Jackson Drum each earned titles of their own.
The York College wrestling squad got off to a great start to the 2017-18 season as the Spartans finished second at the Ned McGinley Invitational at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The Spartans totaled 146.5 points, finishing second to NYU in the event.
The York College athletic department is proud to announce that Duane Bastress, Brandon Bushey, and Mike Welch have been selected for induction into the York College Athletic Hall of Fame. The threesome will comprise the 27th class in the Hall of Fame’s history.
