The Spartans struggled in the lightweight divisions throughout the meet. In the first match of the day against TCNJ, York lost in both the 125 and 133-pound weight classes. Chuck Glatz (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) earned the Green and White its first points with a hard fought 3-2 overtime win at 141. Next up, Vinny Pisani (Orange, Ca./El Modena) earned another victory for York with a 6-0 win at 149. The Spartans would fall behind 20-6 after loosing the next matchups. At the 184 pound weight class, Jeffrey Goldhagen (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) gave the Green and White the spark it need with a pin in 6:12. Kyle Minogue (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) stepped up and earned himself a 3-1 win in the 197 pound weight class. Down 20-15, freshman heavyweight Mike Spencer (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) came through big for York. He earned a crucial pin in 2:28 to give the Spartans a one-point victory.
Against Rhode Island, the Spartans once again started out behind. After loosing matchups in the first three weight classes, York was down 10-0. Pisani earned the first win of the match, recording a commanding 14-2 victory. Adam Kritzer (Herndon, Pa./Line Mountain) followed Pisani with a 6-4 victory at 157. T.J. Demetrio (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) wrestled to a strong 11-1 finish in the 165-pound weight class. Kam Mueller (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) helped the Spartans to gain a decent lead with a pin in 2:35 at 174. Freshman Korey Eberly (York, Pa./Red Lion) added to the lead with a tough 1-0 win. Seth Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) did not get to wrestle, but still recorded six points for the Green and White because of a forfeit. Rhode Island earned a pin in 1:39 in the heavyweight division, but it was not enough to beat the Spartans.
The Green and White could not get things started against Wilkes in the third match of the day. Glatz was the only Spartan to earn points in the match with a 2-0 victory. Freshman Trevor Baez-Hernandez (Bendersville, Pa./Biglerville) fought hard and came close to a win, but fell 5-4.
The Spartans came back to redeem themselves against McDaniel. Once again, York lost in the lightweight matchups. Glatz earned himself his third win of the day, overpowering Trey Mitchell 8-0. Pisani also earned himself another win, finishing his match up 14-3. Drew Spector (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) earned the Green and White more points with a 4-6 win and Brett Brigman (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) wrestled to a close 3-2 win at 165. McDaniel did not back down. After two victories of their own, they were only down 14-12. Thanks to a pin in 1:37 by Minogue the Spartans were able to hold onto the victory despite McDaniel earning a pin in the final matchup.
