YORK, PA – The York College women's lacrosse team earn an At-Large selection to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament as the 32-team field was announced by the NCAA on Sunday evening.
The Spartans, who fell in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championship game on Sunday against #2 Salisbury, earned their second straight NCAA tournament at-large bid as York will host Washington & Lee on Wednesday, May 8 in the opening round of the tournament. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
The Spartans enter the NCAA Tournament with a mark of 13-4 and were a perfect 8-0 at Kinsley Field this season. The Generals enter the second season with a mark of 10-9. W&L earned their way into the NCAA Tournament thanks to an automatic bid after defeating Shenandoah 11-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday. The Generals went 7-3 during the regular season in the ODAC to earn the fourth seed in the 11-team league.
Spartan head coach Jen Muston was thrilled for her team to get an opportunity to extend their season.
"We are very excited and looking forward to playing at home," said Muston. "We are grateful to be able to extend our season. We are going to work hard and take advantage of his opportunity."
The winner of the game will square off against the winner of the Franklin & Marshall and Elizabethtown game that will be held Wednesday night in Lancaster, Pa.
