Women's Lacrosse Ranked 10th to Start 2013 Campaign

YORK, PA – The York College women's lacrosse team received good news recently as the Spartans will open the 2013 season ranked 10th in the nation according to Lacrosse Magazine's NCAA Division III Preseason Rankings.

The Spartans, led by two-time CAC Coach-of-the-Year Jen Muston, return a wealth of talent from last year's NCAA Division III Tournament team. Muston, who was also named the IWLCA Metro Region Coach-of-the-Year, welcomes back all four of her All-Metro Region players and all seven of the Spartans' Capital Athletic Conference all-league selections from 2012.

Seniors Kim Wayson (Harwood, Md./Southern), Leah Schultz (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough), and Katie Vautier (Harwood, Md./Archbishop Spalding) were first team All-CAC selections last year while Jordan Hall (Riva, Md./South River), Kelsey Evans (Bel Air, Md./Fallston), Erica Mulford (Crownsville, Md./Seton Keough), and Kerri Nicolich (Islip, N.Y./Islip) picked up second-team conference accolades. Wayson, Schultz, Vautier and Mulford were each All-Metro Region selections.

Wayson was York's first-ever IWLCA All-American as the Spartans' leading scorer was a second-team national selection.

The Spartans open the season on February 23 at Goucher College. The Green and White play four on the road before opening their home campaign on March 13 against Catholic University at Kinsley Field. The Green and White opens their conference slate on March 23 against St. Mary's College.
