YORK, PA – The York College women's basketball stayed perfect with an impressive 96-67 win over Rowan in the second round of the 11th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Spartans won the reformatted tournament championship as they were the only 2-0 squad on the weekend. The championship is the Spartans' seventh in the 11-year history of the tournament. York has won five of the last six Coaches vs. Cancer championships.

How It Happened:
• The Spartans got off to a blistering start as they raced out to an 11-1 lead to start the game. The Spartans kept the lead around 10 before the Lions ripped off eight straight points to cut the York lead to 18-16. The Spartans regained their balance and closed the quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 26-18 lead after one.
• The Spartans lead stood at 32-26 after Katie Wagner converted a lay up with 6:29 left in the half. The Profs ripped off six quick points to tie the game at 32 with 5:05 left in the quarter. Wagner converted a three-point play 53 seconds latter, giving York a 35-32 lead. The Profs trimmed the Spartan lead to 36-35 but the Green and White ended the quarter by scoring seven of the final 11 points to take a 43-39 lead to the break.
• The Spartans exploded out of the break with eight straight points, pushing their lead to 51-39. Rowan cut the lead to six at 55-49 but the Spartans ripped off a 15-5 run that increased the lead to 70-54 with 34 seconds in the quarter.
• The Green and White put their foot on the gas to start the fourth quarter. York scored 18 of the first 24 points of the quarter, opening up an 88-60 lead. The lead would eventually climb to 29 which is where it would end up at the final buzzer.

The Spartans improve to 17-5 in 11 editions of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic … The Spartans ended a two game skid against Rowan as the Profs now lead the all-time series 8-6 … junior Debria Hendricks earned the Tournament MVP honors while freshman teammate Kayla Ferris also earned all-time honors … Hendricks set a new career high with 14 assists, three short of the school record owned by Aja Wallpher (set against Frostburg State on February 16, 2012) … Katie Wagner was one point short of tying her career high with her 19 points … Wagner's career high of 20 was set three times (PSU Harrisburg – 1/25/17, Cazenovia – 11/15/14, at Eastern Mennonite – 11/19/14) … Wagner was also one rebound short of tying her career high with seven boards and one steal short of her career high of five … Hendricks now has 19 assists and 8 turnovers for the year … Ferris capped an outstanding weekend with her career-high 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals … freshman Molly Day set a new career high with 12 points including a pair of treys … the Spartans are shooting 74.2% from the line as they have made 66 trips to the line in three games … York has dished out 56 assists on 81 field goals for the year … York has forced 55 turnovers for the year … York has led in all three games at the half … York shot over 45% for the first time this year … York placed a season-high five player in double figures … junior Katie McGowan just missed on her second straight double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds ... TCNJ downed Grove City 63-42 in Saturday's opening game.
The Spartans are off until Sunday, November 26 when they head to Annville, PA to face the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen in a non-conference contest. Game time in Annville is set for 2:00 pm.
