    YORK, PA. – The York College women’s basketball team fell to Christopher Newport University 93-69 on the road in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals on Thursday night. Seniors Katie Wagner and Morgan Kuehne led with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the final games of their career, but the Captains capitalized on turnovers and a significant advantage on the offensive glass to earn a ticket to the CAC championship.

The Spartans advance to the semifinals on Thursday to take on Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.

    NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Sam Mocniak nailed a go-ahead three, her sixth of the game, in the final minute to propel the York College women’s basketball team to an 87-85 win over Christopher Newport University on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. Mocniak finished with a team-high 20 points, and Katie McGowan scored 19 for York, as the Spartans clinched the third seed in the CAC playoffs.

    YORK, PA – The York College women’s basketball team led St. Mary’s (Md.) College from start to finish to earn it’s 12th win in Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night at Charles Wolf Gymnasium, 76-42. Katie McGowan finished with her fourth double-double of the season, going for 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sam Mocniak nailed five triples and also had 17 points for the Spartans.

Katie Wagner scored the first eight points for the Spartans, and finished with 17, while Morgan Kuehne added 16.

    YORK, PA – The York College women’s basketball team, buoyed by a career night from Sam Mocniak, defeats PSU-Harrisburg 71-60 on the road in Capital Athletic Conference action on Thursday night. Mocniak recorded a pair of career highs after pouring in 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for her first career double-double. Mocniak was 6-for-7 from three-point range, matching the third-most threes made in a game in school history.

    YORK, PA – The York College women’s basketball team exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Southern Virginia University 25-8, en route to a 95-60 Capital Athletic Conference win at Charles Wolf Gymnasium on Saturday. Katie McGowan scored 13 in the third period, and finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, one of six Spartans to finish in double figures in front of a crowd decked out in pink for the Play 4 Kay game, in memory of legendary basketball coach Kay Yow.
  • Katie Wagner Reaches 1,000 as Spartans Cruise to Win Over Wesley

    YORK, PA – The York College women’s basketball team, on the same night senior Katie Wagner became the 15th Spartan in program history to score 1,000 points, cruised to an 83-48 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Wesley College at Charles Wolf Gymnasium on Wednesday night. Wagner, who finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, nailed a three from the top of the key to hit the milestone with 7:32 left in the second quarter.

    YORK, PA – The York College women’s basketball team lost ground early and fell to Marymount (Va.) University 72-49 in Capital Athletic Conference action at Charles Wolf Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Both Katie McGowan and Katie Wagner, who is just 10 points from the 1,000-point club, managed to finish in double figures, but the Saints finished 50% from the field, proving too much to overcome.

    FROSTBURG, MD. – The York College women’s basketball team outscored Frostburg State University 29-13 in the third quarter to cruise to a 79-66 victory over the Bobcats in Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night. Haley Luckabaugh scored 10 consecutive points in the second period, and finished the quarter with 12 points, while Sam Mocniak scored 13 in just the third quarter, as part of a 19-3 run for the Spartans.

Beth Wiseley, Molly Day and Sam Mocniak finished in double figures as York played without a pair of starters due to illness.

Three Spartans finished with at least 15 points as the Green and White limited the Wolverines to just 14-made field goals, while forcing 19 turnovers with suffocating defense. It is the third consecutive season that York captured its CAC opener.
