Sparkman Named WBCA All-American
York College senior women’s basketball player April Sparkman has been named a 2012 WBCA Honorable Mention All-American as announced by the organization on Friday. Sparkman becomes the third Spartan in the history of the program to earn the WBCA accolade.

Sparkman Named d3hoops.com All-Region
York College senior guard April Sparkman has been named to the d3hoops.com All-Atlantic first-team as announced by the national website dedicated to covering Division III basketball. Sparkman helped lead the Spartans to 24 wins and their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Top-Ranked Amherst Ousts Spartans
The York College women’s basketball team saw their outstanding 2011-12 season come to end at the hands of top ranked Amherst College 79-55 on Friday night at LeFrak Gymnasium in Amherst, Mass. The Spartans conclude their season with a mark of 24-6 while the undefeated Lord Jeffs advance to the round of eight with a perfect 30-0 mark.

Spartans Heading to Amherst for Sweet 16
The York College women’s basketball team will travel to Amherst College in Massachusetts to participate in the 2012 NCAA Division III Sweet 16. The Spartans square off against Amherst in the round of the 16. The Lord Jeffs are the top ranked team in the nation, as they are 29-0.

#LetsgoYork . . . to the Sweet 16!
The York College women’s basketball is headed to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen as the Spartans topped host Juniata 90-81 Saturday evening in Huntingdon. As a team, the Green and White shot an incredible 76.9% in the first half and finished at 66.0% for the game to move to 24-5 on the season.

Spartans Dance On; Haley, Wallpher Terrific in NCAA First Round
Kristen Haley poured in a career-high 25 points and Aja Wallpher dished out 11 assists as the York College women’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament courtesy of an 86-66 triumph over St. Vincent. The Spartans, 23-5, move on to face the winner of host Juniata and Castleton St., while the Bearcats close out their campaign with a 22-7 record.

A Conference-Record Four Spartans Earn All-CAC Honors
The York College women’s basketball set a new Capital Athletic Conference women’s basketball record as four Spartans were recognized by the conference as the All-CAC teams were released on Tuesday. The Spartans had a pair of first team selections in senior April Sparkman and sophomore Aja Wallpher while sophomore forwards Kristen Haley and Brittany Hicks were second team picks.

Athletic Department Announces Ticket Availability for NCAA Tournament Games
The York College athletic department has announced ticket availability for the Spartans’ NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament games this upcoming weekend.

Women's Basketball Goes Dancing Again
The York College women’s basketball team earned their second straight berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament as announced by the NCAA on Monday afternoon. The Spartans will travel to Juniata College to play St. Vincent College in Friday night’s first round. Juniata plays Castleton State in their opening round game on Friday.

Mary Washington Edges York in CAC Title Tilt
The University of Mary Washington women’s basketball team concluded a run to a Capital Athletic Conference championship as they edged the York College Spartans 50-46 in the CAC title game on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, VA.The Eagles improve to 27-0 overall while the Spartans fall to 22-5. The Spartans must now wait until the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday afternoon to see if their stellar season will continue.

Sparkman Leads Green and White into Second Straight CAC Title Game
The York College women’s basketball team advanced to the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championship game on Saturday courtesy of a 64-51 victory over Salisbury Thursday evening in York. The Spartans move on with a 22-4 record while the Sea Gulls fall to 15-11 on the year.

Hicks Named CAC Co-Player of the Week
For the second time this season, York College sophomore forward Brittany Hicks was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 20, 2012 as announced by the conference on Monday.

The York College women’s basketball team closed out their 2011-12 regular season with a 62-51 Capital Athletic Conference victory at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury, MD.

Sparkman Moves to Fourth as York Secure #2 Seed on Senior Night
The York College women’s basketball team earned their 20th victory of the season on Wednesday night, bouncing back from their loss to #8 Mary Washington with an 85-46 victory over Wesley. The Spartan victory moves the squad to 20-4 and 13-2 in the conference while Wesley drops to an overall record of 6-18 and 3-12 in the conference.

Spartans Fall to #8 Mary Washington in CAC Saturday Hoops
The York College women’s basketball team suffered a tough 54-48 loss at the hands of #8 Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center. The defeat drops the Spartans to 19-4 and 12-2 in league play while the Eagles remain undefeated and carry a 22-0 mark, having captured the CAC regular season crown with a 14-0 record.

Sparkman Eclipses 1,500 Career Points; Spartan Win Streak Reaches Nine
The York College women’s basketball team tuned up for their big Capital Athletic Conference Saturday showdown with undefeated and nationally ranked Mary Washington with a 73-39 victory over Stevenson University on Wednesday night in Owings Mills, MD. The Spartans, winners of nine straight, improve to 19-3 overall and 12-1 in the CAC. The Mustangs, in their final year in the CAC, fall to 9-13 overall and 5-9 in the league.

Hicks, Haley, and Sparkman Power Spartans Past Green Terror
The York College women’s basketball team ran their win streak to eight with a 70-49 non-conference victory over McDaniel College on Monday night in York. The Spartans improve to 18-3 overall while the Green Terror slide to 9-13. The Green and White snaps an 11-game home losing streak to McDaniel with the victory. The last Spartan home win against the Green Terror came during the 1993 season.

The York College women’s basketball team ran their win streak to seven with a 60-52 Capital Athletic Conference win at St. Mary’s College on Wednesday night in St. Mary’s City, MD. The Spartans improve to 17-3 overall and 11-1 in the conference while the Seahawks fall to 8-13 overall and 6-6 in the league.

Spartans Roll Past Hood for Sixth Straight Win
The York College women’s basketball team ran their win streak to six with a 88-39 rout of Hood College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans improve to 16-3 overall and 10-1 in the CAC, keeping pace with first-place Mary Washington as the Eagles also won on Saturday. The Blazers fall to 5-14 overall and 1-10 in the league in their final CAC season.

Wallpher's Double-Double Leads Spartans Big Win
The York College women’s basketball used a tremendous defense effort to down the Frostburg State University Bobcats 69-33 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in York. The Spartans, winners of five straight, improve to 15-3 overall and remain in second place in the conference with a mark of 9-1. The Bobcats fall to 5-14 overall and 3-7 in the league.

Brittany Hicks poured in a season-high 19 points and Aja Wallpher registered 10 assists as the York College women’s basketball trumped visiting Stevenson 71-58 Wednesday evening at the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center. With the Capital Athletic Conference victory, the Spartans improve to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in CAC action while the Mustangs drop to 6-10 and 2-6 in the league.

In a battle for sole possession of second place in the Captial Athletic Conference, the York College women’s basketball team placed four players in double figures as the Spartans earned a 70-56 conference win over Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans improve to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the league while the Gulls fall to 7-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

York College sophomore forward Brittany Hicks registered a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double to power the Spartans to a 65-50 Capital Athletic Conference win at Hood College on Wednesday night in the brand new BB&T Arena in Frederick, MD.

Huge First Half Run Lifts #18 Eagles Over Spartans in Key CAC Tilt
The 18th-ranked University of Mary Washington Eagles used a 25-6 run over the final nine minutes of the first half en route to a key 59-42 Capital Athletic Conference win over the York College Spartans on Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA. The Eagles, who improve to a perfect 12-0 overall, take over sole possession of first place in the conference with a 5-0 league mark. The Spartans fall to 10-3 overall and drop into second place in the conference at 4-1.

Spartans Grind Out Overtime Win at Elizabethtown
The York College women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in overtime this season as the Spartans pulled off a 66-61 win at Elizabethtown College on Thursday night in a big regional contest. The Spartans improve to 10-2 overall while the Blue Jays see their four game win streak come to an end as they fall to 8-4 overall.

#6 Pioneers Down Spartans in CvC Final
The William Paterson women’s basketball captured the championship of the 2011 Coaches vs. Cancer at York College on Friday as the sixth-ranked Pioneers downed the host Spartans 74-61 in the tournament title game. The Pioneers remain perfect as they improve to 12-0 while the Spartans have their nine game win streak snapped as they fall to 9-2 overall.

Haley Named the CAC Player of the Week
York Spartan sophomore forward Kristen Haley was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as the Spartans won two conference games this past week.

The York College women’s basketball squad concluded the fall semester portion of their 2011-12 schedule with a 64-48 Capital Athletic Conference win at Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon in Frostburg, MD. The Spartans, winners of eight straight, improve to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the CAC. The Bobcats fall to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Title Defense Starts in Fantastic Fashion; Sparkman Pours in 36
York College senior guard April Sparkman didn’t get to see the court last year and enjoy the ride that was the Spartans’ first ever Capital Athletic Conference women’s basketball championship. On Wednesday night, she got to conduct the opening note of the Spartans’ title defense as she orchestrated an offense that rolled to a 92-47 win over Wesley College in the conference opener for both squads in Dover, Delaware.

The York College women’s basketball squad picked a great time to put together their most complete game of the year as they rolled past Goucher College 79-35 in the Spartans’ 2011-12 home opener on Tuesday night in York. The Spartans have now won three straight as they improve to 3-1 overall while the Gophers fall to 1-3.

Sparkman Named MVP as York wins Terry Greene Memorial Tournament
The York College women’s basketball team earned the tournament championship at the Terry Greene Memorial Tournament hosted by Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday in Lancaster. The Spartans bested the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays 64-57 to take the title.

Women's Basketball Downs the Dips for Win Number One
he York College women’s basketball team picked up their first win of the season and, in the process, advanced to the championship game of the Terry Greene Memorial Tournament hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. The Spartans bested the Diplomats 57-50 in the tournament semifinals as they now advance to face Elizabethtown College in the tournament finals on Sunday afternoon.

The York College women’s basketball squad dropped a hard-fought 67-62 non-conference season opener at Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays avenged last year’s 66-62 Spartan victory in the 2010-11 tip off in York. Hopkins improves to 1-0 while the Spartans are 0-1.

2011-12 York College Women's Basketball Season Preview
The York College women’s basketball team enters the upcoming 2011-12 season carrying a title they haven’t before in the program’s history. Defending conference champions. The Spartans return four of five starters, the Capital Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Year, and a 1,000-point career scorer that missed last year due to injury. That recipe is something that excites the reigning CAC Coach-of-the-Year Betsy Witman.

The defending Capital Athletic Conference women's basketball champion York College Spartans have announced the application for 2011-12 season tickets is now available. The Spartans open their home campaign on November 22 when they host Goucher College.

TOP 5 COUNTDOWN: #4 - 2008-09 Women's Basketball
The number four team on our countdown featured a crew of six seniors that stuck together through thick and thin. Rarely does a class come in as freshman and leave fully intact as seniors but that is what happened for Spartan head coach Betsy Witman in 2008-09.
