Softball Trio Honored by CAC
YORK, PA – The York College softball team had three players earn All-Capital Athletic Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Monday. Junior Hannah Hugel earned first-team honors for the second time while seniors Brittany Therres and Brittany Schlorff earned second team accolades. Therres is now a four-time All-CAC selection while the honor for Schlorff is her second all-conference award.
Hugel is now a three-time selection in addition to being the 2010 CAC Rookie-of-the-Year. Heading into the final doubleheader of the year on Tuesday, Hugel is hitting .382 with 24 runs scored, six RBI, three doubles and a triple. She owns a .432 on-base percentage with a .431 slugging percentage. Hugel has stolen 16 bases in 17 attempts this year.
For her career, Hugel is a .431 hitter with 79 runs scored, 22 RBI, five doubles and two triples. She has stolen 25 bases and owns a .925 fielding percentage.
Therres concludes her Spartan career as the all-time leader in pitching wins (64), innings pitched (661.1), batters faced (2866), games started (113), appearances (134), complete games (59) and shutouts (20).
Therres was a first-team selection in 2009 and 2010 and a second-team pick in 2011. She has earned 12 wins this season and sports a 3.98 ERA in 168.2 innings. She has registered 13 complete games and recorded 70 strikeouts for the year.
At the plate, Therres is hitting .356 with eight runs scored, 17 RBI, eight doubles, a triple, and a home run. She has a .393 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage.
For her career, Therres is a .289 hitter with 32 runs scored, 47 RBI, 18 doubles, two triples, and seven home runs.
Schlorff is currently hitting .298 as she makes her second straight All-CAC squad. She has scored 13 runs, driven in ten with two doubles and two triples. She has a .369 slugging percentage and a .352 on-base percentage.
Schlorff is a career .306 hitter with 40 runs scored, 29 RBI, 13 doubles, three triples and a home run.
The Spartans close out their 2012 regular season with a non-conference twin bill against McDaniel on Wednesday afternoon. Game one first pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
