Spartans Celebrate 2009-2010
The York College athletic department celebrated the 2009-2010 academic year in style on Friday evening at the Spartans annual athletics banquet. Each of the Green and Whites 20 varsity teams, in addition to Yorks cheerleading squad, as well as administrators and staff attended the gala event.

The York College softball team worked with over 50 youngsters from the York Little League softball program back on April 10. The Spartans had a tremendous time while getting to help some local kids.

Spartans Conclude Record Setting Season with a Split
The York College softball team closed out their regular season with a doubleheader split against Misericordia University on a brisk Wednesday afternoon in York. The Cougars captured the opener 5-3 before the Spartan offense erupted for an 11-3 five inning win in the nightcap. York concludes the season with a school record 36 victories as they went 36-9. Misericordia is now 21-14 with the split.

Therres Brilliant in the Spartan Sweep of Shenandoah
The York College softball picked up two very different wins on Friday evening in Shenandoah, Virginia. The Spartans edged the host Shenandoah Hornets 1-0 in the opener before rolling to a 12-3 win in the nightcap. The Spartans keep building on their school record for victories as they improve to 35-8 overall while the Hornets fall to 21-19-1 overall.

A Record Eight Spartans Earn All-CAC Accolades
A school-record eight York College softball players dotted the 2010 All-Capital Athletic Conference squad as announced by the league office on Thursday morning. Freshman Hannah Hugel (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) picked up one of the three individual awards as she earned the leagues Rookie-of-the-Year award. She is the third Spartan softball player to pick up the award, following in the footsteps of pitchers Colleen Price (2001) and Megan Mickles (2005).

Spartans Can't Overcome Sea Gulls as Salisbury Wins 14th Straight Title
The Salisbury University Sea Gull softball squad won their 14th consecutive Capital Athletic Conference championship as they downed the York College Spartans 5-2 in championship game on Sunday in Salisbury, Maryland. The Sea Gulls, winners of 29 straight, improve to 29-2 while the Spartans, who are now 0-4 against Salisbury this season, fall to 33-8 for the season.

Spartans Post School Record 33rd Win; Advance to CAC Championship Round
The second seeded York College Spartan softball squad advanced to the championship round of the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference championship tournament with a 3-0 win over Stevenson University on Saturday in Salisbury. The Spartans now must defeat top seeded Salisbury twice on Sunday to capture their first CAC Tournament title.

Spartans Fall in Battle of CAC Tournament Unbeatens
In a battle of Capital Athletic Conference Softball Tournament unbeatens on Saturday morning, the tenth ranked Salisbury University Sea Gulls downed the York College Spartans 5-0 in the third round of the tournament. The Sea Gulls now advance to Sundays championship series while the Spartans must play Stevenson in an elimination game later on Saturday afternoon.

The York College softball squad rolled to a 9-3 Capital Athletic Conference tournament victory over the University of Mary Washington on a sun splashed Thursday afternoon in York. The Spartans improve to 32-6 as they advance to the weekend in the double elimination tournament 2-0. The Eagles fall to 9-25-1 overall while they are now 1-1 in the tournament.

The York College softball squad closed out their 2010 Capital Athletic Conference regular season schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Gallaudet on a brisk Friday afternoon in York. The Spartans won both games in five innings, winning the opener 13-2 and cruising in the nightcap 22-1. The Spartans are now 28-6 overall and 9-3 in the CAC while the Bison fall to 1-19 overall and 0-10 in the conference.

The York College softball squad had a day that they had been looking forward to turn into a day they would rather forget on Saturday. The Spartans traveled to #19 Salisbury University in a showdown of the two top teams in the Capital Athletic Conference. The showdown turned into a Salisbury sweep as the Spartans lost two games in a row for the first time in the 2010 season.

The York College softball squad continued their impressive 2010 season as they swept Hood College in a key Capital Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday in Fredrick, MD. The Spartans won game one 3-0 and then completed the sweep with a 3-2 decision in the nightcap. The Spartans improve to 24-2 overall and 5-1 in the CAC while the Blazers fall to 7-11 overall and 2-4 in the CAC.

Spartans Sweep Stevenson to Open Up CAC Slate
The York College softball team continued their record-setting start to the season as they swept Stevenson University 15-1 and 9-6 on Wednesday afternoon in York. The Spartans are now off to a 19-1 start which is one win better than the 2001 Spartans, a team that started the year 18-2.

The York College softball team has tied the best start in school history as the Green and White improved to 17-1 for the season as they swept Mt. Aloysius in non-conference action on Saturday in York. The Spartans won game one 2-0 and they ended game two early, earning a 9-1 win in six innings. The Spartans have now won six straight games.

Spartans Edge Ferrum in Spring Break Thriller
The York College softball team won a taut and exciting game against Ferrum College, 3-2 in eight innings, on Tuesday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida. The game was delayed by three hours as heavy rains inundated central Florida on Tuesday morning. The game was originally scheduled to be a part of a double header but game two has been pushed to Thursday afternoon. The Spartans remain perfect at 5-0 while the Panthers are now 4-1.
