Andrew Friesema returns to York as an assistant coach after a successful four-year varsity athlete for the Spartans in cross country and track & field. He was captain of the Spartans cross country and track & field programs both his junior and senior year. During his senior campaign, Friesema helped lead the men’s track & field squad to their first Capital Athletic Conference team title in 19 years.
Since wrapping up his collegiate career, Friesema has become the head coach at York Country Day School for the coed middle school cross country program. In addition, he has continued training to compete at local races and is in the process of starting an elite track club for local post-collegiate athletes.
Upon graduate in December 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in finance, he plans to begin attending graduate school in the spring and take on a graduate assistant/assistant coaching role.
