The Spartan men’s cross country team had five runners finish in the top 10, easily winning the 8000 meter run at John Rudy Park on a beautiful Saturday morning in York.
Steven Childres (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Saint Joseph) and Paul Wallace (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) paced the way for the Spartans, finishing third and fourth overall. Childres had an end time of 27:52.38, while Wallace closed in at 27:54.14.
Ryan Janes (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico), and Matt Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) rounded out the Spartan runners finishing in the top ten. Janes finished sixth with a time of 28:28.73, Kilefner finished eighth with a time of 28:59.78, and Provonche finished ninth with an end time of 29:03.39.
After finishing second overall a week ago at the McDaniel College Green Terror Challenge, the Spartans were able to get a first place overall finish in their second meet of the season. The Spartan’s finished with a total time of 2:22:18.42 and an average time of 28:27.68. St. Mary’s finished the meet second, with a total time of nearly 10 minutes behind the Green and White.
York will compete in part two of the York College Invitational at John Rudy Park on September 26 at 10:30 a.m.
