YORK, PA – The York College men’s and women’s cross country teams were both honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic Teams as announced by the organization last week.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
Both York College squads finished third at the Capital Athletic Conference championship meet and participated in the NCAA Division III Regional championships.
The Spartan women boast a team GPA of 3.20 while the men own a collective 3.10 GPA. The Spartans are only program in the Capital Athletic Conference to have both teams selected as All-Academic Teams. There were 110 men’s team that met the team criteria while 153 women’s teams earned the honor.
Spartan head coach Rich Achtzehn was pleased to see his teams receive the academic honor.
“Our student-athletes do a great job in the classroom and this is a significant award for our program,” says Achtzehn. “They are a group that works very hard in the classroom and on the course.”
