SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The York College men's track and field team produced multiple personal records and conference qualifiers at the highly competitive Paul Kaiser Track and Field Classic at Shippensburg University on Saturday.
Senior Michael Stetson (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) produced York's best overall performance of the day as he set the new school record in the 3000m run with a second place finish at a time of 8:37.46. Stetson surpassed the old mark of 8:38.23 set in 2013 by his former teammate and All-American Tim Hartung.
Two other Spartans performed at a high level in the 3000m run in Craig Eppler (Bethlehem, Pa. / Northampton) and Ryan Aug (Monmouth Junction, N.J. / South Brunswick) who both set personal records. Eppler finished 19th with a time of 9:14.75 and Aug finished 20th with a time of 9:15.15.
York continued to have success in the distance events. Andy MacGibbon (Goffstown, N.H. / Goffstown) set a personal best in the 5000m run with a time of 15:50.50 and Christopher Sander (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) also set a personal record in the 5K with a time of 15:51.54. Both athletes qualified for the Capital Athletic Conference Championship meet on May 2 with those performances today.
Two more athletes produced conference-qualifying performances in the 10000m run. Colin Fleming (Owings, Md. / Northern) placed seventh with a time of 34:28.13 and Timothy Moore (Whitehouse Station, N.J. / Hunterdon Central Regional) placed eighth with a time of 34:28.17.
Wil Murray (Cape May Court House, N.J. / Middle Township) performed well in the 1500m run with a 15th place finish and a personal record time of 4:09.66. Andrew Tyris (Voorhees, N.J. / Brandywine) also set a personal record in the 1500m with a time of 4:21.79.
The Spartans will compete next at the 2015 Capital Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships on May 2 and will be hosted by York.
