LA CROSSE, Wis. – Junior men's track & field distance runner Tim Hartung (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) finished up his 2013 season Saturday at the NCAA DIII National Championships with the 5K.
After racing an impressive 10,000-meter run earlier in the week and earning himself his second All-American honors, Hartung finished the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:59.74 for 19th place.
Head Coach Erick Camodeca is so proud of Hartung and the incredible year that he has had.
"The accomplishments he achieved would be satisfying for a career," said Coach Camodeca. "But Tim did all of this in one season."
Hartung's consistent hard work has paid off, ending with a strong national meet and an All-American honor. Despite not finishing the 5K quite as strong as he would have preferred, the entire coaching staff is still happy to see him running at such a high level of competition.
"I know finishing the 5K the way he did will drive Tim's motivation to be even better next year," said Coach Camodeca.
The Spartans track & field season now comes to an end, closing out a stellar year for the entire athletic department at York. Coach Camodeca will be losing a strong competitor in Phil Cavaluchi (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville), but Hartung will have one more season to get back to the national stage.
