DOVER, DEL – The York College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory at Wesley College on Wednesday afternoon in Dover, Delaware.
The Spartans improve to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the CAC while the Wolverines are 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Spartans took both of the doubles contests that were played as the Wolverines forfeited the third doubles contest.
Daniel Erk (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) and Mario Herrera (San Francisco, Calif./Josua Christian) combined to roll to an 8-2 win at first doubles. Zach Hanson (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) and George Sosa (Wilmington, Del./Thomas McKean) notched an 8-1 win in the second doubles as the Spartans took control of the match early.
York won all four of the contested singles matches to earn the sweep. Erk won the first singles match 6-3, 6-2. Herrera recorded a three-set win in the second singles match while Hanson followed with a 6-1, 6-2 in in the third singles match. Sosa closed out the match with an 8-0 win in the fourth singles match.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday morning when they host Randolph-Macon in a non-conference contest. The match is set for a 10:00 am start.
