HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The York College men's tennis team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 5-4 non-conference win over Malone University on Wednesday morning in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Spartans improve to 6-3 overall while the Pioneers fall to 4-6.
The Pioneers took early control of the match as they captured the first and third doubles matches. The York second doubles tandem of Matt Rosenkrantz (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) and Jake Greenstein (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) combined to post a 9-7 win in the second doubles match.
Malone earned wins at first and second singles but York captured the final four singles matches to win the match. Nathaniel Hoskins (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) earned a 6-4, 6-0 win in the third singles contest. Rosenkrantz was a double-winner for York as he was a 6-1, 6-2 winner in the fourth singles contest.
The Spartans conclude the trip on Thursday with a match against St. Louis Pharmacy. The match is slated for an 8:00 am start.
