Green and White Best Blazers in CAC Finale

FREDERICK, Md. – The York College men's tennis team collected their 11th win of the 2010-2011 campaign as they bested Hood 5-3 in Capital Athletic Conference action Friday evening. With the victory, the Spartans improve to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in CAC play while the Blazers fall to 1-13 and 1-6 in the league.

Taking two of their five points in doubles play, the Spartans won the second and third doubles matches.

Philip Myers and James Villari improved to 8-6 together this season as they captured an 8-4 victory at second doubles.

Ryan Harvey and Justin Hostetter combined in to register the point at third doubles with an 8-0 win. The veteran duo has posted York's best doubles record at 9-4 during their senior campaign.

In the shortened singles tilt, the Spartans won the third, fourth, and sixth slots as the fifth singles match was not played.

After contributing to the second doubles triumph, Myers went on to collect the win at third singles courtesy of an 8-3 pro-set win. Myers, who has put together a quality senior year, improves to 14-4 on the season.

Nathaniel Hoskins, a rookie Spartan who has put together a tremendous season, captured his 15th singles victory of the year with an 8-5 triumph at fourth singles. Hoskins now stands at 15-5 for his freshman season.

Villari, who had teamed with Myers earlier in the day, went on to collect the sixth singles win with an 8-2 victory.

The Spartans now embark on the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament as the playoffs third-seeded squad. York is slated to host Stevenson in an 11:00 am match on Sunday, April 17. The Spartans are also scheduled to play Washington College on Sunday as the non-conference tilt is scheduled for an approximate 4:30 pm start.
