OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The York College men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 triumph over host Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference action Thursday afternoon. The Spartans improve their 2010-2011 overall record to 10-6 including a 4-2 record in the CAC while the Mustangs drop to 5-10 and 2-5 in league play.
York then went on to own five of the six singles matches, each of which came in straight sets.
Harvey collected the second singles spot with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph, putting his senior season mark to a quality 12-6.
Jones posted the win at third singles as he reaches the ten-win mark for the campaign. The Spartan senior, who won 6-1, 6-0, improves to 10-6 on the year.
Philip Myers and Nathaniel Hoskins, who each own outstanding singles records this year, grabbed points at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Myers collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory, improving his mark to 13-4, while Hoskins in just his freshman season has posted a 14-5 overall record winning today's match 6-3, 6-4.
Senior captain Justin Hostetter proved victorious in the sixth slot with a 6-3, 6-0 result as he also breaks the ten-win plateau this season.
The Spartans quickly return to action as they travel to Hood on Friday evening. The Green and White are slated to play the Blazers in the final regular season contest of the campaign. Match time is slated for 6:00 pm.
