YORK PA. - The York College men's soccer team (16-2-1) will look to end their 11th Capital Athletic Conference Championship game appearance, with the raising of a trophy for the fifh year in a row. The York men will face rival Salisbury (17-2), who the Spartans have regularly faced in CAC title games.
The Spartans won their semifinal CAC tournament game with an exciting 2-2 penalty kick winner (full story here). The Spartans will have to regroup their emotions to face Salisbury at the Sea Gulls home field at 2 pm on Saturday in Salisbury, MD.
Salisbury faced Frostburg State. in their semifinal game on Wednesday. The Sea Gulls won the contest 1-0 with a goal in the last 10 minutes of the match. The Spartans and Seagulls face each other for the second time this season with the early season match going to Salisbury by a 3-1 score. (story here). York will look for redemption as they ride the bus down to Maryland.
York has had a long history with Salisbury in the CAC title game. York is 3-3-1 against Salisbury, with their last CAC title loss against Salisbury in 2007.
Coach Ludwig on how the team is feeling about going to the championship game, "There is obvious excitement around the program. We just want to go out and play our game."
On how the team is looking to regroup from their high emotions from Wednesday's victory, "It's just another step in the journey for us. We just have to focus on the task at hand."
