YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer team will head to Hoboken, N.J. to open the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer tournament as the field was announced on Monday afternoon.
The five-time Capital Athletic Conference champions will take on Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) in the opening round. The Knights captured the Skyline Conference title with their 2-1 win over Farmingdale State on Saturday. The Knights enter the tournament with a mark of 13-4-3 while the Spartans begin the tournament with a record of 17-2-1.
The pod won't be an easy one for any of the four teams as host Stevens matches up with 12-5 Baruch in their opening match of the weekend. Stevens enters NCAA play with a mark of 16-1-1 after winning their seventh straight Empire 8 tile Saturday with their 2-0 win over Utica. The Bearcats of Baruch advanced to the NCAA Tournament thanks to the automatic bid that goes with winning the CUNYAC Tournament. Baruch bested CCNY 1-0 in overtime on Saturday.
The Spartans are no stranger to the NCAA Tournament as this marks the ninth straight year the Spartans have advanced to the national postseason tournament. York faced four teams in this year's tournament and went a combined 3-2 as they defeated Lycoming, Messiah and Salisbury while they lost to Salisbury, in the regular season, and Susquehanna.
