York College senior men's soccer players Jake Hower (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) and Aaron Beale (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) were named the Capital Athletic Conference offensive and defensive players of the week as announced by the league on Tuesday. The duo led the ninth-ranked Spartans to a pair of shutout wins to open the season.
Hower was selected as the CAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Beale was picked as the CAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 3, 2013.
Hower is the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the only goal of the game in the season-opening win over Lycoming, then adding a second-half insurance goal of Sunday's victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan.
Beale is the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the 9th-ranked Spartans to two shutout victories. In a 1-0 win over Lycoming, YCP's smothering defense allowed just four shots on goal, then held NCW to just two tries on net in Sunday's 3-0 victory.
