Spartan Men Capture Third Straight CAC Men's Commissioner's Award
For the third consecutive year, the York College Spartans captured the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Commissioner’s Award as announced by the conference office recently. The Spartans, after winning the award outright in the last two years, shared the title with Salisbury this season as both teams accumulated 86 points for the year.

Gill and Good Receive NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors
The York College men’s soccer program received great news this winter as seniors Mike Gill and Trey Good were recognized for their academic performance as well as their on field success. Named to the honorable mention list of NSCAA Scholar All-Region squad, Gill and Good mark the first time in the history of the program that Spartans received such an honor.

York College Announces Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2012
The York College Athletic Department, in conjunction with the York College Alumni Office, is proud to announce the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2012. This year’s class is comprised of men’s basketball player Dave Martins, women’s cross country runner Beth Ann Hooper and men’s soccer forward Matt Shealer. The class is the 22nd in the hall’s history and the three honorees bring the total number of former Spartan standouts enshrined to 79.

Bua Chosen to NSCAA All-Region Squad
The York College men’s soccer team received outstanding news Thursday as junior forward Antonio Bua was selected to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Atlantic Region squad. For his efforts this season, Bua was chosen to represent the Spartans on the third team.

The York College men’s soccer team saw their 2011 campaign come to a heartbreaking end Saturday evening, falling 1-0 to DeSales in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The loss brings the Spartan season to a close with an 11-6-5 mark while DeSales moves on to face Randolph in round two sporting a 15-4-2 record.

The York College men’s soccer team embarks on the 2011 NCAA Tournament this weekend, heading to Newport News, Va. for the Christopher Newport pod. The Spartans are slated to face on DeSales in the opening match on Saturday at 5:00 pm while the host Captains take on Randolph at 7:30 pm.

Spartans Land Five on All-Conference Squad
The York College men’s soccer team received outstanding news today as five Spartans were named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference squad for 2011 campaign. Antonio Bua, Aaron Beale, and Cody Pearson were selected to the first-team while Mike Gill and Ethan Kavanagh received second-team honors.

Spartans Look Forward to NCAA Tournament; Headed to Newport News, Va.
On the heels of their third straight Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, the York College men’s soccer team enters the NCAA Tournament this weekend. The Spartans are set to travel to Newport News, Va. where they will be part of the four-team pod at Christopher Newport University.

Spartan Three-Peat!
With Taylor Brummitt’s third-minute tally, the York College men’s soccer team captured the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championship with a 1-0 victory over host #17 Salisbury Saturday afternoon. The Spartans, who improve to 11-5-5, win their third straight CAC title and gain the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Sea Gulls drop to 13-3-3 on the season.

In a rematch of last year’s tournament final, the York College men’s soccer team (10-5-5) faces conference rival Salisbury (13-2-3) in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championship match on Saturday, November 5. Slated for a 2:30 pm start, the Spartans are set to travel to Salisbury to contend for the CAC title and the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

On the strength of a 3-0 semifinal win at Mary Washington Wednesday afternoon, the York College men’s soccer team advances to the championship round of the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. With the triumph, the Spartans improve to 10-5-5, the 12th straight year they have recorded double-digit victories, while the Eagles close out their 2011 campaign with a 7-7-3 mark.

The York College men’s soccer earned a spot in the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference semifinals courtesy of their 3-2 victory over Stevenson University on a sunny but cold Sunday afternoon in York. The Spartans improve to 9-5-5 overall as they move on to face second seeded Mary Washington on Wednesday.

York College has announced a few schedule changes to this weekend’s Capital Athletic Conference tournament games involving the Spartans due to the impending winter storm coming up the east coast of the United States.

Kavanagh Pitches a Shutout; Spartans End Regular Season with 0-0 Tie
The York College men’s soccer team ended Wednesday’s game at North Carolina Wesleyan just like they have four other times this season as they tied the Bishops 0-0 in 110 minutes in Rocky Mount, N.C. The Spartans end the regular season 8-5-5 while the Battling Bishops are now 6-4-5.

First Half Tallies Lift Spartans to CAC Victory at Hood
The York College men’s soccer team closed out their 2011 Capital Athletic Conference regular season slate on with a 2-1 Monday afternoon triumph over Hood in Frederick, Md. With the victory, the Spartans move to 8-5-4 on the season including a 4-1-3 mark in league play. The Blazers fall to 3-10-1 and 0-7-1 in conference action.

Bua, Kavanagh Garner Weekly CAC Men's Soccer Accolades
The York College men’s soccer team received outstanding news early this week, as Antonio Bua and Ethan Kavanagh were selected as Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week. The Spartans snagged two away wins last week, besting non-conference foe Gettysburg 1-0 in an under-the-lights match October 19 before topping Frostburg St. 3-1 in a Saturday CAC tilt.

The York College men’s soccer team nabbed a 3-1 victory over host Frostburg Saturday evening in a Capital Athletic Conference tilt. With the triumph, the Spartans improve to 7-5-4 and 3-1-3 in the CAC while the Bobcats fall to 9-2-4 and 3-2-2 in league play.

The York College men’s soccer team picked up their sixth triumph of the season on Wednesday evening as they bested host Gettysburg 1-0 in an under-the-lights non-conference tilt. With the victory, the Spartans improve to 6-5-4 on the season while the Bullets drop to 6-6-1.

The York College men’s soccer team battled Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington to a scoreless tie on a windy Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans are now 5-5-4 overall and 2-1-3 in the conference while the Eagles are now 5-5-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the league.

Bua Notches Two as Spartans Grab 4-1 Triumph at Stevenson
The York College men’s soccer team picked up their second straight victory Wednesday evening, topping host Stevenson 4-1 in Owings Mills, Md. The Spartans’ Capital Athletic Conference victory, their second in as many matches, improves their record to 5-5-3 including a 2-1-2 mark in the CAC while the Mustangs fall to 6-7-1 and drop to 2-3 in league play.

Following a quality week in the Spartan net, York College men's soccer goalkeeper Ethan Kavanagh has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Spartans Blank Seahawks for CAC Victory
The York College men’s soccer team recorded their third well played game in a row. However, unlike their previous two results, this time the Spartans came away from the contest with a win as they posted a solid 2-0 victory over St. Mary’s College in Capital Athletic Conference play on a brilliantly beautiful Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans, who lost their previous two games in heartbreaking fashion, put together a very workmanlike effort in defeating the Seahawks.

The York College men’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to #1 Messiah on Wednesday afternoon in York. With the defeat, the Spartans drop to 3-5-3 while the top-ranked Falcons improve to 10-0-1 on the season.

The Salisbury University got an overtime goal with 1:26 remaining in the first overtime as the Gulls registered a 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference win over the York College Spartans on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon in York.

The York College men’s soccer dropped a hard-fought 2-1 non-conference decision against the University of Scranton in York, PA on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans fall to 3-3-3 overall while the Royals improve to 3-4-2 for the campaign.

Spartans' CAC Home Opener Ends in Draw
The York College men’s soccer team ended this afternoon’s match against Wesley College with a 2-2 draw in the Spartans’ Capital Athletic Conference home opener. The Green and White move to 3-2-3 overall and 0-0-2 in CAC play while the Wolverines move to 3-3-3 and 0-0-2.

The York College men’s soccer team posted their second straight draw of the 2011 campaign Tuesday evening, tying host Johns Hopkins 0-0 in 110 minutes of scoreless double-overtime action. With the non-conference draw, the Spartans and Blue Jays both move to 3-2-2 on the season.

The York College Spartans opened their defense of their 2010 Capital Athletic Conference championship with a 1-1 double overtime tie against Marymount University on Saturday in Arlington, VA. The Spartans are now 3-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the CAC while the Saints stand at 1-3-2 overall while they are also 0-0-1 in the league.

York College men’s soccer sophomore Mike Kane has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Kane helped lead the Spartans to a 3-0 week as each victory came in shutout fashion.

The York College men’s soccer team captured the 2011 Holiday Inn Conference Center Classic with a 4-0 victory over McDaniel College on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans improve to 3-2 on the season with their third straight win at home this season.

The York College men’s soccer team opened the Holiday Inn Conference Center Soccer Classic with a solid 3-0 win over Cabrini College on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in York.

Cody’s Pearson’s 26th minute free kick lifted the York College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Susquehanna on a rain-soaked Tuesday afternoon in York. With the triumph, the Spartans pick up their first win of the young season and move to 1-2 while the Crusaders suffer their first loss of 2011, falling to 1-2.

Host CNU Hands Spartans Second Loss of 2011
The York College men’s soccer team suffered their second straight loss to open the 2011 campaign on Saturday evening, as the Spartans were dealt a 3-1 blow courtesy of host #6 Christopher Newport University. The annual CNU Tournament saw the Captains go 2-0 while the Spartans drop their first two matches of the year for the first time since the 2001 season.

Spartans Drop Season-Opener to Virginia Wesleyan
The York College men’s soccer team was a dealt a 1-0 blow on Friday evening, falling to Virginia Wesleyan in the opening match of the Christopher Newport University Tournament. The Spartans fall to 0-1 to start the season for the first time since the 2002 campaign where they also feel to Virginia Wesleyan at the CNU Tournament. With the victory, the Marlins begin the campaign with a 1-0 mark.

2011 York College Men's Soccer Season Preview
Building what has become nearly a tradition, the York College men’s soccer program has established and maintained a level of excellence over the past six seasons. Beginning with the 2005 campaign, the Spartans have won four of the previous six Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championships (including the 2009 and 2010 titles), reached the NCAA Tournament in six straight seasons, and reached as high as #2 in the national poll during that time. But the question is however; will the 2011 squad stack up to those lofty standards set by previous Spartan teams?

TOP 5 COUNTDOWN: #3 - 2006 Men's Soccer
The number three team on our countdown features a squad loaded with talent that did not lose a single match the entire season. The 2006 York College men’s soccer squad entered the season loaded with quality talent, drive, experience, and a brand new facility as the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center had just opened the previous Spring. The year prior, the Green and White had a record-setting campaign posting an 18-2-3 mark, capturing the program’s second overall Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championship and advanced to the second round in York’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. And that was simply a precursor for the 2006 squad.

Spartan Soccer Camps Receive Foreign Influence
Head coach Mark Ludwig and the York College men’s soccer team recently concluded the annual Spartan soccer camps, drawing more than 300 participants from ages 8 to 18. Highlighting the camp instruction, a trio of foreign coaches brought their tremendous experience and knowledge to York. Stuart Leicester and Zeki Istanbul of Manchester United’s youth and community system and Gonzalo Bexiga of Benfica’s youth system imparted their knowledge on groups of eager campers.
