Spartan Athletic Hall of Fame Grows by Three
The York College Athletic Hall of Fame grew by three on Saturday during the annual induction ceremony at the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center. Coach and Professor Pat Massa, wrestler Gary Papa, and field hockey standout Jaclyn (Russell) Showers became the newest members of the Hall of Fame.

Five Spartans Garner All-Region Accolades
The York College men’s soccer squad received great news Wednesday afternoon as five Spartans were named to the 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Men’s Soccer Division III All-South-Atlantic Region team. Lucas Emil, Andy Stromberg, Jesse Derksen, Mike Gill, and Kemal Nuspahic were all named to the second-team for their tremendous contributions throughout the season.

Spartans Fall to Kenyon in NCAA First Round
The 18th-ranked York College men’s soccer team saw their 2010 campaign come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon as they fell 1-0 to Kenyon College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in York. The Spartans close out the year with a 16-5-1 mark while the Lords, who stand at 15-2-2, advance to tomorrow’s second round against the winner of Ohio Wesleyan and Catholic.

Yackel, Ludwig Receive CAC Accolades; Seven Land on All-Star List
Spartan freshman defender Matt Yackel was named the CAC Rookie-of-the-Year and head coach Mark Ludwig was chosen by his peers as the conference’s Coach-of-the-Year while seven players were chosen as All-CAC performers. Lucas Emil, Adam Good, Mike Gill, Jesse Derksen, and Andy Stromberg each were first-team choices while Kemal Nuspahic and Antonio Bua landed on the second team.

Spartan Men's Soccer Set to Host NCAA First and Second Round Contests
For the sixth consecutive season, the York College men’s soccer squad has earned a trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament as the brackets were announced Monday afternoon by the NCAA. The Spartans, who earned an automatic bid courtesy of Saturday’s Capital Athletic Conference championship win in penalty kicks, have earned the right to host a pair of first round matches and a second round match on Saturday and Sunday.

For the second consecutive season, and the fourth time in program history, the York College men's soccer team captures the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Title. After a 1-1 through 110 minutes of action, the Spartans won in a penalty-kick shootout 4-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Jesse Derksen made three saves in the shootout, including the stop on the sixth Salisbury attempt to secure the championship.

Spartans Snag 3-0 Senior Day Triumph
On an unseasonably warm but cloudy late-October day, the York College men’s soccer team defeated the visiting Hood College Blazers 3-0, to improve their record to 15-4 and 8-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference. For seniors Doug Bauer, Mike O’Connell, Lucas Emil, Adam Good and Treyton Good the match proved a special one as they were honored during the Spartans’ annual Senior Day festivities prior to the CAC tilt.

Derksen, who also garnered the honor back on October 4, helped the Spartans to a 2-0 week and secured the CAC regular season championship.
