• Spartans' Men's Programs Capture 2009-10 CAC Commissioner's Award

    For the first time in school history, the York College Spartans captured the 2009-10 Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Commissioner’s Award as announced by the CAC office recently. The award, which signifies the most outstanding men’s athletic program in the conference, is in it’s third year of existence as the Spartans accumulated 76.0 points, edging last year’s champion, Salisbury University, by 2.5 points in the overall standings. Mary Washington finished third followed by Wesley.

    The York College athletic department celebrated the 2009-2010 academic year in style on Friday evening at the Spartans’ annual athletics banquet. Each of the Green and White’s 20 varsity teams, in addition to York’s cheerleading squad, as well as administrators and staff attended the gala event.
  • Spartan Hall of Fame Grows by Three

    The York College Athletic Hall of Fame will grow by three as Jill Crouse-Wolf, Chris Showers, and Michael Jackson will be inducted into the prestigious fraternity on Saturday, May 1 at Charles Wolf Gymnasium. The 1998 Men’s Soccer team will also be honored by the College as they were the first team in program history to win a Capital Athletic Conference championship.

  • Three Spartans Participate in Professional Combine

    Three York College men's soccer seniors traveled to Sanford, Fla. this past week for the InfoSport, Inc. professional combine. Ryan Hock, Brett Sauerberger, and Travis Williams headed south with an opportunity to continue their respective playing careers.

    York College senior Jon Ports has been honored as the NSCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Player-of-the-Year as announced by the organization late last week. Ports becomes York’s first national Player-of-the-Year in athletic department history.

    Scott McDowell terrorized the pitch for the Green and White from 2002-2005. One of the most decorated Spartans in the history of the York College men's soccer program, McDowell is now happily married and working in York.
  • Spartans Land Four All-Region Honorees

    The York College men’s soccer squad received outstanding new late last week as four Spartans were named to the NSCAA All-South Region squad. Jon Pors, Kemal Nuspahic, Adam Good, and Lucas Emil were each chosen to represent the Green and White on the regional team.

    York College senior men's soccer standout Jon Ports has recently been selected to the NSCAA All-American first-team for his efforts during the 2009 campaign. Ports become the first three-time first-team All-American in any sport in York College history.

    The York College athletic department has established the ticket policy for the Spartan men’s soccer first and second round NCAA Tournament matches on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15. The Spartans face Cazenovia at 11:00 am on Saturday followed by Amherst and Salem State squaring off in the other first round match on Saturday at 1:30 pm. The two first round winners will play on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
