How It Happened

• The Spartans and Osprey went back-and-forth in the first half of the opening quarter as the game was tied at two midway the period. The Spartans then ripped off three straight goals as Brendan McGrath and Gunnar Reynolds found the back of the net. Ryan Powers then got an unlikely goal as he ripped a shot from midfield as the quarter was expiring. The ball was deflected into the goal to give York a 5-2 lead the end of one.

• The Spartans scored two of the first three goals of the second quarter as they looked poised to blow Stockton out but the Osprey were not having it. Stockton dominated the final 11 minutes of the second quarter as they scored four goals to tie the game at seven heading to the half. Stockton outshot the Spartans 17-6 in the second quarter to knot the score heading to the break.

• York came out of the break and gained control of the game. Reynolds opened the scoring 40 seconds into the half to give York a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Thomas Pfeiffer and Jake Hvazda followed with goals as the Green and White lead grew to 10-7. The Osprey bounced back with a pair of goals to trim York's lead to 10-9. Brendan O'Sullivan got a man-up goal at the 6:50 mark and Hunter Davis talied the rare man-down goal with 1:57 left as the York lead was 12-9. Stockton's Luc Swedlund recorded his fourth goal of the game with 16 seconds left in the quarter, cutting York's lead to two heading to the final quarter.

• Pfeiffer opened the fourth quarter scoring with an unassisted goal with 12:33 left in the game. Swedlund scored his final goal of the year, his 100th tally in 21 games, with 10:39 remaining game. J.T. Kidd won the ensuing face off and scored six seconds later to give York a 14-11 lead. The Spartans closed out the game with four more goals including a pair from Reynolds to salt away the win and advance to the third round.
