YORK, Pa – The York College men's lacrosse team climbed a few spots in the Lacrosse Magazine ranking to 9th and rose to 12th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll, as the organizations announced Monday.
The Spartans won an absolute thriller on Saturday afternoon with an 11-10 double overtime victory. The Spartans secured the win off of Tyler Huston's game winning shot to give visiting Mary Washington their first loss of the season. York's victory helped it rise one spot in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings to 9th and helped it climb three spots in the USILA from 15th to 12th.
The Spartan's opponent from Saturday, Mary Washington, appears on both polls ranked at 16th in Lacrosse Magazine and 17th in USILA. Another CAC and future schedule foe is St. Mary's ranked 18th in Lacrosse Magazine and 16th in USILA Rochester Institute of Technology remains 1st in both polls.
The Spartans will have two games this week starting with a match at Marywood on Wednesday. The Spartans will return home on Saturday for a huge game that against #4/#3 Salisbury at 3 pm. The game could be an excellent preview for the postseason.
