HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad had a strong performance in the opening round of the Penn State Harrisburg Fall Invitational at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club in Harrisburg, PA.
The Spartans sit fourth after their day one score of 307. Franklin & Marshall sits in first at 294 while the host Lions and Stevenson are tied in second at 304.
The Spartans were paced by freshman Brandon Hur (Jamesburg, N.J./Monroe Township) as he shot a one-over-par 73. Hur recorded a pair of bogeys on holes one and two but bounced back with birdies on the par five fifth hole and the par four ninth hole to shoot a front side 36. Hur bogeyed holes ten and 11 before notching another birdie on the par five 12th hole. He pared 13th through 18 to shoot a one-over-37 on the back nine.
Junior Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) is one shot behind Hur as he recorded a two-over-par 74. Wolbach had bogies on one and three before cashing in a eagle three on the par five fifth hole. After a bogey on six, he birdied seven and finished with a one-over-par 37 on the front nine. Wolbach had one bogey and eight pars on the second nine to finish with a 37 and his 74.
Sophomore Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) played well as he carded a six-over-par 78 with a 39 on the front and a 39 on the back. Wagner had one birdie on his round as he tied his season low with the Sunday performance.
Senior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) rounded out the Spartan scorers as he shot an 82. Boslough shot matching 41's in his round.
The Spartans head back up to Harrisburg on Monday morning when they compete in the second round. The Green and White are set to tee-off at 9:00 am at Dauphin Highlands.
