HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad finished third at the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Golf Championship Tournament at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg on Saturday.
The Spartans shot a team score of 313 on Saturday for a two day total of 621. York finished three strokes back of host Penn State Harrisburg as the Lions placed second. Christopher Newport ran away with the team championship as they finished at 605, outdistancing PSU Harrisburg by 13 strokes for their first Capital Athletic Conference title.
Marymount finished fourth but it was distant fourth as they were 32 strokes back of the Spartans.
Senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) led the Spartans as he shot a 75 to finish with a two day total of 149. His five-over-par finish placed him tied with Harrisburg's Tyler Shank for second place. Long earns first team All-CAC honors for the second straight year as he finishes his career as a four-time All-CAC pick.
Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) placed tied for eighth in the tournament as he shot a day two 75 to finish with a total score of 155. Boslough earns second team All-CAC honors with the finish. Boslough also finished eighth at last year's conference championship meet as he is now a two-time All-CAC honoree.
Sophomore Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) just missed out on All-CAC honors as he placed 13th with a two day score of 157 after he shot 79 on Saturday. Wolbach finished one stroke out of a tie for 12th which would have enabled him to earn all-conference accolades.
Freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished his first conference tournament with an 18th place finish as he shot an 84 on Saturday. Wagner totaled a score of 163.
Senior Matt Storck (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) finished 21st for the Spartans as he shot 89 on Saturday after a 77 on Friday.
The Spartans conclude their campaign on Wednesday when they head to the Falcon Classic hosted by Messiah College.
