HERSHEY, PA – The York College men's golf team participated in the first round of the prestigious Hershey Cup on Sunday afternoon in Hershey, PA. The tournament is being held at Hershey Country Club East.
The Spartans shot a team total of 326 as the Green and White finished day one 12th out of 15 teams in the tournament. York was two strokes back of tenth place Gettysburg and Susquehanna.
Franklin & Marshall owns the day one lead as they fired a team score of 301. Washington & Jefferson sits second at 305 while McDaniel is third at 306. Allegheny (307) and St. John Fisher (310) round out the top five squads.
York was led on Sunday by junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) as he carded a seven-over-par 78. He sits tied for 19th in the 81-player field.
Senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) was two strokes back Boslough as Long shot a nine-over-par 80 on the par-71 tract. Long sits tied for 37th in the tournament.
Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) was York's third finisher as he shot an 83 to tie for 59th place while freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) was two strokes back of Wolbach as he shot an 85.
The Spartans will continue play in the tournament on Monday morning at Hershey East. York's contingent will start their day at 9:10 am.
