Spartans Open the Spring with a Third Place Finish

GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College golf squad opened their spring campaign with a third place finish at the 12-team Gettysburg Spring Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, PA on Saturday.

The Spartans finished with a team score of 324. They finished two strokes back of second as Dickson recorded a team score of 322. McDaniel won the event with a team score of 310 to easily outdistance the Red Devils and Spartans.

Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) led the Green and White as he fired a six-over-par 78 to finish tied for seventh. Senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) was two strokes back of Boslough as he shot an 80 to tie for 12th in the 62-player tournament.

Sophomore Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) fired an 81 as he finished in a tie for 15th. Freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) was the final Spartan scorer as he shot an 85. That score tied Wagner for 31st place in the field.

The Spartans are scheduled to make their lone home appearance of the year on Monday when they host the 17-team York College Invitational at Out Door Country Club. The tournament has a shotgun start at 12:00 pm.
