ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The York College golf squad put together a solid performance as the Spartans finished third of 12 teams at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, PA.
The Spartans carded a team score of 309 as they finished eight strokes back of team champion McDaniel. Franklin & Marshall placed second with a team score of 304. Messiah (311) and Susquehanna (313) rounded out the top five in the tournament.
Freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) led the Spartans with a one-over-par 73 as he finished tied for second in the 68-player field. Wagner ended the tournament tied with F&M's Brad Lankler and Elizabethtown's Ryan Laudeman as the trio were one shot back of individual champion Steven Tanen from McDaniel.
Senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) finished the round with a four-over-par 76 as he tied for 11th place. Long missed out on a top ten finish by one stroke.
Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna) and senior Matt Storck (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) both played really well on their final nine holes as they both shot 80 for their rounds. That tied both for 27th to round out the Spartan scorers. Boslough started the day eight over for his first eight holes but played his final ten holes of the day in even par.
Freshman Alex Colton (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) made his Spartan debut with an 86.
The Spartans return to action on Monday afternoon when they travel to Lancaster, PA to participate in the Bent Creek Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. The event is scheduled for a 12:30 pm start.
