HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad concluded their 2012-13 regular season with a ninth place finish at the 17-team Messiah College Falcons Classic on Tuesday afternoon in Harrisburg, PA.
The Spartans shot a team total of 322, seven strokes out of the three-way tie for sixth place. Stevenson won the tournament with a stellar team score of 298. Messiah finished second at 305, followed by Millersville (307), Gettysburg (309), and PSU-Harrisburg (314).
Junior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) paced the Spartans with a four-over-par 76. Long's score tied him for tenth in the 87-player field. Junior Travis Oot (Kirkville, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) finished two strokes back of Long as he carded a 78 to finish for tied for 20th.
Freshman Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) shot an 80 as the Spartans' third finisher. Wolbach tied for 35th with his eight-over-par finish. Eric Stauffer (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) was the final Spartan scorer as he shot an 88.
York now heads to the 2013 Capital Athletic Conference at Wild Quail Golf & Country Club in Delaware. The two day tournament starts on Saturday at 1:00 pm and concludes on Sunday with the second round.
