Golf Stands Third After Day One of CAC Championships

WYOMING, DEL – The York College golf team shot a first-round 320 as they stand third of five teams after the opening day of the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference championship at Wild Quail Golf Club in Wyoming, Delaware.

Wesley shot a blistering 302 as the host Wolverines hold an 11 shot lead heading into Saturday's second and final round. Stevenson sits in second, seven strokes ahead of the Spartans at 313. Marymount is only four strokes back of York at 324 while Hood is a distant fifth at 351.

Senior Andrew Schmehl and sophomore Kevin Long paced the Spartans on Friday as they each shot a seven-over-par 79 to tie for sixth place in the 26-player field.

Wesley's Robert Ehrhardt finished the first round with a one-under-par 71 to lead teammate Clayton Bunting by two strokes.

Freshman David Boslough and sophomore Travis Oot are tied for 13th as the two Spartans shot nine-over-par 81's. Senior Adam Dupler was the fifth Spartan playing in the tournament as he carded an 83, good for a tie for 17th.

The tournament concludes Saturday with the final round. The action is slated for a 12:30 pm start.
