Golfers Finish Fifth at Gettysburg Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The York College Spartan golf squad finished fifth at the eight team Gettysburg College Spring Invitational on Wednesday at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, PA. The Spartans shot a team score of 334 as they finished three strokes back of fourth and six back of third.

Gettysburg won the team championship as they combined to shoot a team score of 310 as they easily outdistanced second place Dickinson by eight strokes. Messiah's Matt Burkhart won the individual title with an even-par 72.

York was paced by the trio of Kevin Long, Travis Oot, and Andrew Schmehl as they each shot an 11-over-par 83. That finish tied the trio of 18th place in the 48-player field.

Senior Adam Burkhart was the fourth Spartan scorer in the tournament as he shot an 85.

Freshman David Boslough was York's overall lowest score with an 82 but he was playing with the Spartans' B team in the tournament.

York returns to action on Friday when travel to the two-day Penn State Harrisburg Tournament. Friday's action kicks off at 1:00 pm.
