Golf Opens Season with Fourth Place Finish

DANIELSVILLE, PA – The York College golf squad opened their 2010 fall season with a fourth place finish at the Moravian Fall Invitational at Woodstone Golf Club in Danielsville, PA on Thursday. The Spartans finished tied with FDU-Florham, Moravian, and Ursinus with a team score of 324. Muhlenberg won the tournament with a team total of 303 while Gettysburg was distant second at 322. Franklin & Marshall placed third at 322.

Junior Adam Dupler paced the Spartans as he shot a five-over-par 77. That score tied him for seventh in the 103-player field. Junior Adam Burkhart followed Dupler with an 80, tying him for 19th in the tournament.

Freshman Kevin Long was the third Spartan scorer as he carded a nine-over-par 81 in his collegiate debut. Long tied for 24th with his score. Junior Andrew Schmehl was the final Spartan scorer as the reigning CAC Player-of-the-Year shot an 86, which tied him for 66th in the field.

The Spartans, who are now 13-3-3 overall, return to action on September 30 when they travel to Messiah College Invitational.
