YORK, PA – In a press conference today, long-time York College mascot, “Sparty”, announced that he has decided it is time to hang up his sword and cheer on his teams from his favorite recliner. The Green and White’s champion cited several recent tears and related “foam loss” as the determining factor in his career-ending decision. It is expected that in the coming days, Sparty’s agent will announce Fall Orientation as his client’s final appearance.
The York College Student Affairs Division released the following statement:
“We are sad to see Sparty go. Despite his obvious physical deterioration, he remained an important part of our team—a guy you always wanted out there when the game was on the line. Actually, he never really got IN a game…but he never once complained about playing time either!”
As for our future…
A new era of school spirit and tradition is emerging here at York College of Pennsylvania and we intend to unveil the Spartans’ new #1 fan at a special function in October!
We are proud to announce the launch of YCP’s official mascot program. With that, we are in search of dedicated, energetic, and spirited York College students to be the very first performers to bring the newest member of our Spartan family to life!
