The York College field hockey program had five players honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as they were named members of the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad as announced by the national office on Wednesday.
Three York College Spartan field hockey players were selected to the 2013 All-Capital Athletic Conference squads as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. Seniors Kailey Brewer and Jillian Brezgel and junior Katie Petrillo each earned second team all-league honors for their efforts.

It was the Spartans first win of the season moving them to 1-3 and the first win for new Spartan head coach Carly Zinn. The loss drops W&L to 1-3 for the campaign.

In nearly opposite fashion from Friday’s match, the York College field hockey squad suffered a difficult 5-4 overtime loss at the hands of visiting McDaniel College Sunday afternoon. The Spartans, in their first home contest of the season, fall to 0-2 on the young campaign while the Green Terror improves to 0-2.
The York College field hockey squad opened the 2013 campaign in the loss column as they fell to visiting Randolph-Macon 5-4 Friday afternoon in York. In both teams’ first games of the season, Catherine Pricone netted all five tallies for the guests as they produced a furious come-from-behind effort to nip the Green and White.
The 2013 season will begin a new era for the York College Field Hockey squad. New head coach Carly Zinn brings an exceptional level of enthusiasm and excitement to the Spartan squad. She has jumped in with two feet into crafting her program into a highly competitive program.
York College of Pennsylvania Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation Paul Saikia is proud to announce that Carly Zinn has been selected as the Spartans’ new field hockey head coach after a national search.
