SALISBURY, Md. – The York College field hockey team's four game win streak came to an end at Salisbury as the host Sea Gulls defeated the Spartans 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. York falls to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Salisbury continues their unbeaten streak as they improve to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference.
The Spartans' only goal came late in the first half of play when freshman forward Liz Maue dribbled into the top of the circle and fired a shot past the goalie to the right corner of the cage. Maue tallied her third goal of the season on the play.
The Sea Gull offense was hitting on all cylinders as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Green and White could tally their first goal. Junior forward Erica Henderson stole the show with her three-goal performance for Salisbury and helped her team maintain their number two national ranking.
For the game, Salisbury led the shot margin 27-3 and also held the advantage in penalty corners 5-2.
The Spartans return to action as they travel to Selinsgrove to face Susquehanna University. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30.
