Spartans Receive NFHCA Academic Recognition
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association recognized the York College field hockey squad for their fantastic academic performance during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. The Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III academic awards recognize collegiate field hockey student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year as well as teams who register a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher during that same time.

Three Spartans Capture All-CAC Honors
The York College field hockey team received great news today as they garnered three All-Capital Athletic Conference honors. The performances of senior midfielder Brittany Simmons and senior defender Colleen O’Rourke allowed them to capture first team accolades, while junior forward Sandee Reich registered a second team nod.

York Falls to Top Ranked Salisbury In CAC Semifinals
The York College field hockey team saw their 2011 season come to a close on Wednesday night as they suffered a 6-0 loss on the road to Salisbury University in the semifinal round of the Capital Athletic Conference. The Spartans finish their campaign with an 11-9 record while the No. 1 ranked Sea Gulls improve to 16-1 and earn a date with Wesley for the CAC championship.

Curtis Named the CAC FH Defender of the Week
York College sophomore goalkeeper Alana Curtis was named the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defender of the Week for the week ending October 30. Curtis led the Spartans to a pair of shutouts wins as the Spartans advanced to the CAC Semifinals.

Spartans March On To CAC Semifinals After 3-0 Victory
The York College field hockey team moves past St. Mary’s College in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament with a 3-0 win over the visiting Seahawks. Madi Wilt led the Spartan offense with two goals in the contest as Sandee Reich assisted her both times. York improves their record to 11-8 overall and 5-3 in the CAC and moves on to conference semifinals. St. Mary’s finishes out the 2011 season with an overall mark of 6-11 and 4-4 in the Capital Athletic Conference.

Spartans Finish Out Regular Season With 5-0 Triumph
The York College field hockey team closed out their regular season with a decisive 5-0 road victory over conference opponent Hood College. The Spartans improve to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the Capital Athletic Conference, which makes them the fourth seed heading into the conference tournament. Hood falls to 3-12 overall and 0-7 in the CAC as they fail to qualify for postseason play.

The York College field hockey team suffers a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the hands of Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 9-8 on the year, while the Griffins improve to 13-3 and extend their win streak to 10 games.

The York College field hockey team solidified a spot in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament with a win at home over conference foe Frostburg State University. The Spartans improved their record to 9-7 overall and an even 3-3 in the CAC, while the Bobcats fall to 5-13 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The York College field hockey team picks up an important victory on Saturday over conference foe St. Mary’s courtesy of a two-goal performance by freshman Liz Maue. With the win the Spartans improve to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in the CAC, while the Seahawks fall to 5-8 and 3-2 in the CAC.

#4 Lynchburg Downs York in Non-Conference Contest
The York College dropped a 4-0 non-conference decision to Lynchburg College on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Eastern Menonnite University in Harrisonburg, VA. The Hornets, who are ranked fourth in the nation, improve to 11-1 overall as they have won 11 straight games. The Spartans fall to 7-7 for the campaign.
