Three Baseball Spartans Honored as Gurganus is Named the Rookie of the Year
The York College baseball squad had three players earn All-Capital Athletic Conference honors as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. Freshman right-hander Dan Gurganus earned the conference Rookie-of-the-Year award. He is the sixth Spartan to garner that accolade.

The York College baseball team saw their six-game win streak and their 2012 season come to a close on Sunday as they fell to Franklin & Marshall 12-4 in a non-conference contest at Jaquet Field. The Spartans end the season with a mark of 22-20 while the Diplomats conclude their campaign with a mark of 17-23.

The York College baseball took on the visiting Mighty Macs of Immaculata University for the Spartans' 2012 Senior Day. The Spartans earned the sweep on a sun-splashed Sunday, winning the opener 9-0 and completing the sweep with 10-1 win in the second.

York College senior ace Tommy Moran tossed eight strong innings to lead the Spartan baseball squad to a 6-4 non-conference victory at Montclair State University on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans improve to 18-19 overall while MSU had their five-game win streak snapped as the Red Hawks fall to 23-12.

In an elimination game between the Capital Athletic Conference’s two top seeded teams, the top-seeded Salisbury University Sea Gulls downed the second-seeded York College Spartans 11-10 in a slugfest on Saturday morning in Salisbury. The Sea Gulls advance to face undefeated Wesley in the third round of the tournament late Saturday afternoon.

York College senior centerfielder Steve Tretter had a career-high tying four hits as the Spartans rolled past Elizabethtown College 13-5 in a non-conference contest at a windy Jaquet Field on Monday. Tretter had two doubles, a home run and a single in the win as he narrowly missed hitting for the cycle in the game.

TOP 5 COUNTDOWN: #5 - 2002 Spartan Baseball
The 2002 York College baseball squad was truly a special group. Nine seniors including a pair of All-Americans made the team one of the most experienced in Spartan history. The team accomplished something no other York baseball team had as they advanced to the Winston-Salem Regional final where they would fall one game short of the NCAA Division III College World Series.
