Women’s Soccer Blanks F&M in Wednesday Road Win

LANCASTER, Pa.. - The York women's soccer team notched their first road win of the season with a 1-0 triumph at Franklin and Marshall on Wednesday evening.

Team Records
York: 2-0-2
Franklin and Marshall: 1-1-1

How It Happened
Both teams produced chances in the first 20 minutes with the Diplomats compiling five shots, including two on goal, and a corner kick to one shot and one corner by the Spartans.

After weathering the early storm from F&M, the Spartans seized an opportunity of their own when Spartan senior forward Meg Kalthof found the back of the net from in the 22nd minute for the lone goal of the game. Kalthof has now scored in three-straight games and is just one goal shy of 40 career tallies.

Spartan rookie keeper Gracie Leathery went on to make two more saves before halftime to preserve the York lead and to bring her first-half total to four.

The Diplomats threw everything they had at the net in the second half and racked up a 12-2 shot margin with three of those shots landing on target. The Spartans defense stood up to the challenge and posted their second shutout of the season on the way to victory.

Up Next
The Spartans will complete the final game two of a three-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Bryn Mawr.
