YORK, Pa. – York College is proud to announce that junior golfer Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) has been named the York College Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending on April 28, 2013.
Long closed out a stellar season with a third place finish, shooting four-over-par 76 on Sunday at the Capital Athletic Conference championships. His performance helped the Spartans cruise to first place at the championships. The tournament victory is the second in the six-year history of the CAC Tournament and the first under head coach Matt Hunter. The Spartans last won the tournament title in 2009.
Long was also named the Andrew Geyer Memorial Award winner. The award is presented by Wesley College and remembers Geyer, the former Wolverine All-CAC athlete who was a Dean’s List student and active in his community. Every season, the award recognizes the CAC golfer who displays “outstanding academic credentials, athletics, citizenship and community service.”
Long is a sport management major and the son of Dennis and Linda Long.
