YORK, PA – York College is proud to announce that junior volleyball player Katie Huston (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 1, 2013.
Huston led the Spartans to a 4-0 week and the championship of the Moravian College Greyhound Premiere Volleyball Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Bethlehem, PA.
Huston began the tournament with seven kills in just 13 attempts for a .462 attack percentage and three digs in two games as the Spartans dispatched Cententary 3-0. She followed that up later on Friday with 12 kills, six digs, a solo block, a service ace, and a .556 attack percentage in the win over Alvernia.
On Saturday, Huston continued her steady play with 10 kills, four digs, and a block solo in the Spartans’ win over tournament host Moravian. She closed out the tournament with 10 kills, four digs and two solo blocks in the four set win over Swarthmore as York captured the tournament title.
For the week, Huston hit .289 with 3.25 kills, 1.42 digs, and 0.42 blocks per set. She totaled a team-high 44.5 points for the weekend, good for an average of 3.7 points per set.
Huston is a marketing major and is the daughter of Kip and Kim Huston.
