YORK, PA - York College is proud to announce that women's basketball standout Brittany Hicks (Dover, Pa./York Catholic) has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2014.
Hicks led the nationally ranked Spartans to a pair of wins for the week. In the Wednesday win over Frostburg State, Hicks played in just 20 minutes as she poured in 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists and had a steal against the Bobcats. Hicks was 6-for-9 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
In the come-from-behind victory over Mary Washington, Hicks was fantastic as the senior All-American poured in a game-high 22 points with 15 rebounds in her ninth double-double of the year. Hicks was 7-for-14 from the floor including a career-high 3-for-3 from three. She also went 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the Spartans' 17th victory of the year.
For the week, Hicks averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game as she shot 56.5% from the floor and 77.8% (7-for-9) from the free throw line.
It is the second time this year that Hicks has earned the institutional honor as she was named the December 9 Athlete of the Week.
Hicks is the daughter of Tim and Nancy Mihalko and is a biology major.
